In fact, one only has to look across the way from Intuit Dome to see another shiny example in the form of the breathtaking SoFi Stadium. This is the latest naming-rights deal for a major sports venue, and it reiterates that fintech is one of the most prevalent industries involved in the sponsorship and naming-rights deals. The financial details of the naming-rights deal have not been disclosed, but the Clippers did say that they had received “quite a few pitches and quite a few offers.” The deal was reached in time to allow the Clippers to reach their goal of having a naming-rights deal done before the groundbreaking event last week. The iconic new arena and event venue is designed for optimal and intimate engagement of community and fans and will raise the bar for every major sports franchise in the world with regard to sustainability through design and fan experience. While this information isn’t exactly IP-related, I think it’s worth mentioning for two reasons: (1) its inclusion in the deal is admirable and (2) it shows how IP-related deals can be used to further public interests. TOP MODEL: The Clippers’ business offices are in two floors across the street from Staples Center, where the team currently plays, and the 13,000-square foot Experience Center, a nine-month project itself, has taken up a third floor in that building. Then, 46 more traditional “halo" suites will sit in a horseshoe at the top of the lower level four will be available for nightly rental, with the other 42 offered on longer-term leases. The 10 backstage bungalows resemble bunker suites, with sub-bowl suite areas and access to bowl seating in the first 10 rows. The four courtside cabanas feature suites situated under the sitting bowl, with exclusive access to a second-row seating platform that flanks either side of the players’ tunnel. Clippers Chief Ticketing Officer Jason Green did not share any specific sales goals but said, “We expect to sell out all the suites and do so pretty quickly." Green said that construction blueprints have been finalized, and it does not appear that the building’s design will change dramatically. In September 2021, the Los Angeles Clippers officially broke ground on Intuit Dome, a 1.2-billion arena and entertainment complex at the intersection of Century Boulevard and Prairie Avenue. The $2B arena in Inglewood, scheduled for completion in '24, broke ground two weeks ago and will feature three types of suite products, including two first-of-their-kind offerings, four courtside cabanas and 10 backstage bungalows. The Clippers' Intuit Dome Experience Center opened last week, with the team focused on selling its 60 suites first.
